Thandi is one of seven principal characters, each leading their own story within the sweeping interconnected narrative of our flagship performance, The NoW.
She is a Black woman in her late thirties to early forties and an environmental scientist. As a busy single mum, she juggles care for her two children (a 19-year-old son and a 9-year-old daughter) as well as her own mother, all in the neighbourhood where she grew up.
Passionate about social justice and environmental issues, she is proud of her independent-minded daughter but worries about her son’s involvement in militant race rights activism.
Despite her strong convictions and desire to make a difference, Thandi often feels her professional and personal impact is limited by everyday demands.
Through her extraordinary journey, Thandi discovers her own strength, connects more deeply with her family, and finds the power to create real change in the world.

Leah is one of seven principal characters, each leading their own story within the sweeping interconnected narrative of our flagship performance, The NoW.
She is a young adult, living independently and working gig jobs. A dedicated gamer, Leah often keeps to herself, finding contentment in her own company, though there's a subtle hint she misses deeper human connections. Her perspective is often black and white, and she grapples with a complex personal history surrounding the abortion debate, stemming from her own experiences and her mother's contrasting views.
Through her extraordinary journey, Leah begins to navigate her inner conflicts, explore the nuances of connection, and discovers a path toward self-care and a more expansive understanding of the world around her.
